What is an Idol-Fest?

Rose City Idol Fest will be hosting this year’s idol fest!

An Idol-Fest is a concert style event where performers show off their love for idols! The spotlight goes to cosplay idol groups and original idol works alike! With no singing, flashy moves, or effects needed, you get to showcase your work on stage. This is not a competition, just a fun idol showcase! Don’t forget your penlights!

Do you want to perform on stage and show off your moves? Well you're in luck! We are looking for performers! Please check out our information and guidelines before filling out an audition form. We can’t wait to see you shine!

Applications are open now!

We are also looking for volunteers to help run this event! We are in need of graphic designers, photographers, backstage help, and a media team! Please email green.bean.cosplay@gmail.com if you are interested!

Important Dates

Auditions will be closed February 20th at midnight CDT, and emails with results will be sent out between March 1-5, 2025.

The Idol-fest will be held on April 6th, 2025, at Cape Anime in Cape Girardeau MO, at the Drury Conference center.

Information and Guidelines

Lead contact- The group's lead contact is in charge of communicating with the idol-fest staff. Only the leader can make and confirm changes for the group. If a leader is unable to participate, then the leader must inform staff of the change.

Group- Each performing group must present a Cape Anime badge in order to perform. You can preorder badges here.

  • Cape Anime is providing all performers with a day pass for April 6th, but if you wish to stay for the weekend, you must purchase a badge for April 5th separately. The group leader is the only person allowed to pick up the badges for the group. To pick up your badges, the leader will give their first and last name at check-in.

Stage size- Groups can be comprised of 1 - 5 performers. Our space does not accommodate groups larger than 5 members. The stage can accommodate 2 members with the remaining members performing on the floor in front of the stage. Please take this into consideration when applying and choosing songs/routines.

Time Limit- At the present time, we are unsure with how much time each group will get, but the minimum is 5 minutes. Depending on the influx of groups this time limit could extend. You are not required to fill your entire time slot, just not go over your limit.

  • No projectiles allowed. (No throwing candy, merch, etc)

Song choice- Your song choices will be a first come first serve manner. A group who submits an audition first gets to use that song over a group who submitted an audition with the same song after.

  • Upon acceptance, each group will submit an MP3 file of their audio that they would like to use for the show. If your MP3 file is not turned in on time, we cannot guarantee your performance slot will be saved.

  • Cape Idol-fest will NOT accept song files that use AI covers, with an exception to Vocaloid songs. AI songs that use an artist's voice without permission will not be permitted, and you will be disqualified.

Costumes- Costumes are also a first come first serve basis, this is to ensure that groups are easily distinguishable from each other. Please include an image of your costume plan with your audition form. We highly suggest wearing safety shorts under skirts.

Content- All content must be family friendly, as Cape Anime is a family friendly event. Please refrain from provocative song choices and costumes. Staff is able to deny songs and costumes if deemed in violation of these guidelines. You can find all convention policies here.

Theme- Our theme for this year's Fest is “Spring Up”. Please feel free to use that theme when choosing your song or set choices!

Rehearsals- Each group and their members are required to attend their rehearsal time slot. If you have a conflict that will result in being late, please make sure to contact staff.

Selection process- Your audition video does not need to be a video of your performance for the Idol-fest, but it is highly recommended. Applying does not guarantee acceptance. Despite wanting to accept all groups, we only have a certain amount of time to perform. But even if your group is not accepted, please come to support those who were!

  • Your leader will receive an acceptance email on February 15th, 2024. If you do not receive an email within 2 business days within that time, please feel free to reach out to green.bean.cosplay@gmail.com for inquiry.

  • Further information about rehearsal, stage, music format, time limit, and more will be sent out to accepted entries.

We look forward to working with everyone for a successful first Cape Idol-fest. We can’t wait to see everyones amazing performances! Good luck everyone!
